Kaua'i's county seal, which weighs 400 lbs and is carved in monkeypod, will be recreated in miniature and presented to the mayor of Kuka-cho, a city on Kaua'i's Japanese sister island of Oshima. Mayor Keisaburo Ota saw the seal when visiting Kaua'i and requested a replica from Kaua'i Mayor Maryanne Kusaka. The artist who carved the seal is Chris DeAnda (left). The facilitator who provided the seal for the county, Roberta Haas (right), will accompany Mayor Kusaka (center) to Japan for a formal presentation of the seal to Mayor Ota on Kaua'i's sister island.
